Como tudo começou:
Um jogador, estava jogando a versão 1.0 Beta
quando disse ter visto o que ele acreditava ser uma vaca, como suas
configurações de vídeo estavam em mínimas, não deu muita importância até
se aproximar para tentar conseguir couro.
Isto que ele se encontra com outro player, com a skin original conhecida como Steve, só que com uma diferença, seus olhos estavam vazios, apenas um grande branco no lugar dos olhos.
Mas então como infernos um outro jogador poderia ter aparecido? É um novo Mob do jogo?
O jogador então decidiu abrir um tópico no Fórum Oficial Americano de Minecraft, e nele descreveu sua história junto com a postagem desta imagem:
Segundos após a postagem de seu texto, junto com a imagem, o jogador viu
a página a qual estava seu post receber a seguinte mensagem: “Erro 404.
Oops… a página que você está procurando não existe, ou não está mais
aqui”, o que quer dizer que o post provavelmente teria sido deletado.
Com absoluta certeza que estava fazendo o post no lugar correto, e não
estava infringindo nenhuma regra, continuou a postar, refez o post e
novamente o mesmo erro…
Com persistência, o jogador continuou postando na esperança que alguém
pudesse responde-lo nos breves segundos antes de seu post ser apagado,
até que então recebe uma mensagem de um dos moderadores do fórum com o
nome de HEROBRINE.
A Mensagem era simples e curta, e dizia o seguinte:
“Pare com isso. Agora!”

O jogador notou que embora o membro que enviou a mensagem fosse um moderador, nenhum dado sobre ele estava disponível no fórum, e após questionar outros moderadores sobre ele, e porque teria deletado o tópico, ninguém conseguia responder, tão menos sabiam de qual moderador o jogador estava se referindo.
Por sorte, o jogador foi contratado por outro usuário que teria também visto a entidade, e que nos breves segundos após ele ter postado o tópico, teria tido tempo de ler o ocorrido.
Este usuário fazia parte de um grupo de pessoas, que através de email, trocavam conversas, fotos, informações sobre a tal entidade que havia aparecido misteriosamente sobre vosso jogo, e também sobre o mistério do moderador que ninguém parecia conhecer, o tal Herobrine.
Alguns meses se passaram, mais pessoas se juntaram ao grupo, mas o mistério continuava, quem é Herobrine? O que era aquele entidade junto ao jogo? Porque ninguem está falando disso?
O tempo foi passando, até que um dos membros do grupo conseguiu conectar o nome Herobrine a um desenvolvedor de games Sueco, que mais tarde foi descoberto ser irmão do criador e desenvolvedor chefe até então do jogo minecraft, Notch.
O jogador ainda não satisfeito em apenas saber que Herobrine podia ser, decidiu tentar a sorte e mandar emails diretamente para Notch, perguntando sobre seu irmão Herobrine, se ele realmente é seu irmão, e se é moderador do fórum.
Isto que ele recebe o seguinte email:
“Sim, eu tinha um irmão que ia pelo nome Herobrine…
Mas infelizmente ele não está mais entre nós”

O jogador não sabia no que acreditar, será mesmo possivel que Herobrine seja o irmão falecido de Notch? Talvez um Bug no jogo ou o espirito de Herobrine apenas quer continuar jogando?
O jogador por meses continuou a procurar a entidade novamente, em busca de novas provas para poder entender melhor quem e o que é Herobrine, infelizmente, além da foto que foi capaz de tirar utilizando o botão Printscreen, o jogador nunca mais foi capaz de encontrar Herobrine novamente…
O mistério de Herobrine:
Na versão 1.6.6 Beta, na lista de Updates foi informado que Human Mob (Herobrine) havia sido removido (Coisa que mais tarde foi informado ser uma brincadeira).Ele tambem foi informado ter sido removido na versão 1.7.0 e 1.7._ sem motivo aparente.
Isso se repetiu na versão 1.8.
No lançamento da versão oficial 1.0, Herobrine foi citado novamente como removido do jogo sem motivo.
Herobrine não foi citado novamente até a versão 1.2, onde teria sido mencionado apenas no Launcher, novamente com a informação “Herobrine removido”
No update da versão 1.2.5, uma nova informação foi disponível no changelog de atualização, onde descrevia o seguinte “Todos os fantasmas em controle do Lord Herobrine foram removidas)
No update de julho do Minecraft para Xbox 360, Herobrine foi removido pela primeira vez no Minecraft para console.
Em 1 de agosto de 2012, foi novamente citado como removido após o update da versão 1.3
Há outros players que juram ter visto animais, entre outros mobs aparecendo com os olhos brancos durante o jogo, esses mobs tendiam a aparecer e desaparecer do nada, e algumas vezes matando players os empurrando de abismos, ou em cima da lava.
Notch tambem teria informado em uma de suas entrevistas, que ainda há um mistério dentro de Minecraft, que até então nenhum player foi capaz de encontrar…
Curiosidades:
Diversos Mod’s foram feitos utilizando a história do grande Herobrine, e muitas tentativas para captura-lo em vídeo foram feitas durante os anos, mas ninguem até então foi capaz de realiza-lo…É dito que o disco 11 (Aquele o qual mostra um homem que parece estar correndo de algo) é o áudio de um player que teria encontrado Herobrine, ou possivelmente o áudio do próprio Herobrine tentando escapar de algo que o teria prendido ao jogo.
Boatos dizem que o disco 11 não deveria estar no jogo, e os desenvolvedores tentaram remove-lo diversas vezes, mas sem sucesso, pois o jogo apresentava grandes erros sempre que removido.
A verdade:
Embora seja uma ÓTIMA HISTÓRIA, principalmente para a comunidade Minecraft, tudo não passa de uma grande brincadeira (ou pelo menos assim eu imagino), pois os desenvolvedores do jogo já admitiram que Herobrine não está no jogo, e muito menos é um moderador do fórum.O jogador que teria primeiramente escrito sobre o ocorrido, nunca apareceu, e milhares de pessoas nem ao menos ouviram falar do nome Herobrine…
Até o mesmo Notch, após milhares de msgs e emails, já enviou centanas de Tweets em seu Twitter oficial, informando que Herobrine não é real, e que ele não tem nenhum irmão falecido.
Tradução: Herobrine não é real de nenhuma forma, não. Nunca tive um irmão (bem, tenho um meio irmão que eu nunca conheci…), e ele não está no jogo!
E como pode ser notado através de toda a comunidade, Herobrine parece ter virado um ícone para o Minecraft, e o mesmo tem sido usado em vários materiais promocionais, como o poster do Minecon, a capa a comunidade minecraft, entre outras imagens. (veja algumas abaixo):
